A tea class in support of immigrant communities.

We’re bringing back one of our most popular classes– offered virtually for the first time.

Việt Nam may not be one of the first countries tea enthusiasts think of when it comes to exceptional tea– but it should be. While industrial, commodity teas dominate much of the market, the small-batch teas we source tell a very different story: teas grown in biodiverse environments and crafted with care by various ethnic communities across the country.

In this online Introduction to Vietnamese Tea class, we'll explore the diverse tea-producing regions of Việt Nam and feature three single origin teas from our catalog, each representative of their origins: a white, green, and oolong. We’ll cover brewing techniques to help bring out each tea’s character, and lightly touch on how centuries of cultural exchange, migration, Chinese influence, European colonization, and the knowledge of many local ethnic groups have shaped Việt Nam’s tea landscape today.

This class is for anyone new to Vietnamese tea, as well as those curious to better understand its regional diversity and range of styles.

Featured Teas:

  1. Wild Silver Tips
  2. Misty Highland Green
  3. Red Oolong

Tea in solidarity

As ICE continues to tear families apart and destabilize immigrant communities across the U.S., we've been thinking about ways to show up that feel sustainable for our one-person business. This class is part of that effort.

Profits from this class will be donated to:

  • NYIFUP, the nation’s first and largest public defender program providing legal representation to detained immigrants

  • NYIC, a statewide coalition advancing immigrant rights

If you’ve been with us since 2021, you may remember Virtual Tea Classes for a Good Cause– a series of online classes we launched at the height of the pandemic to raise funds for undocumented workers and Chinatown elders. Those sessions helped lay the groundwork for many of the classes and gatherings we continue to host today.

Accessibility & format

To make this class accessible, the base ticket is priced lower than our usual offerings, with options to contribute more for those who are able.

Participants are welcome to join with their own tea, or select an option that includes the featured teas we’ll be tasting together, shipped in advance of the class.

Ticket options:

  1. Class ONLY
  2. Class + all 3 teas (shipped in advance):
    • 10g Wild Silver Tips
    • 10g Misty Highland Green
    • 10g Red Oolong

Please note: all classes are non-refundable but transferable.
