Traditionally scented lotus tea is extremely rare to come by due to the tremendous time and effort required to naturally scent the tea. Our version takes roughly 1,000 lotus flowers to naturally scent one kilogram of green tea. A majority of lotus teas found on the market are scented with oils and extracts.
Our Lotus Green tea is made with lotus flowers from Hồ Quảng Bá (Quảng Bá pond). Hồ Quảng Bá is one of the few remaining lotus ponds near Hồ Tây, Hà Nội's iconic West Lake. During lotus season from May to September, locals go out to the ponds to harvest flowers as early as 4am. Flowers are carefully picked before they bloom, ensuring its fragrance is preserved.
Each stem is then meticulously sorted for quality before the tea blending process. Petals are peeled and separated from the lotus stamens, the pollen-producing reproductive organ of a flower. Lotus stamens are an indispensable component of lotus tea. They are blended with a high quality wild, unscented green tea from Hà Giang for a few consecutive weeks, resulting in a deeply aromatic flower-scented tea.
