Flavor Profile: smell of buttered corn, smooth and silky texture
Production Area: Lũng Phìn, Đồng Văn, Hà Giang Province
Harvest: April 2024
This special green tea is lovingly crafted by the Po family, the descendents of the late Grandfather Po, who was considered the best tea maker in Lũng Phìn. Nestled at ~1,600 meters on the rugged Đồng Văn Plateau in Hà Giang and grown in a limestone terrain with nutrient-rich soil, the native tea trees grow slowly due to the area’s year-round limited water supply and cool winds.
The use of the Sinensis varietal (small leaf varietal) is also more prominent than the Assamica varietal (big leaf varietal) which is more commonly found in other tea growing areas.
In an unique local practice, dry corn stalks are used for cooking and for firing up the tea processing machines in place of wood. Fresh stalks feed livestock, while dry stalks ensure an even fire during tea making. To us, this tea symbolizes both nature’s resilience and its delicate balance.
